A thing about cover art
I’ve been working on a new project named ‘Prayer‘. I think this track has been one of, if not my favourite ones so far, which led me to believe that I needed really good cover art to go along with it.
This led me down a rabbit hole of trying to come up with the best cover art concept possible that would befit ‘Prayer’, only to proceed wasting an entire afternoon chasing that singular vision I had formed in my head. While I know that I can’t necessarily rush things in terms of art to go along with my music, I came to the realisation that my vision for the artwork on each title is a bit out of my depth, both in terms of time - and the fact that picking up drawing and actually getting to a stage where I’m good at it isn’t something on my to-do-list.
I will hence focus on what I know. That is, producing music and now the visuals that come with it (the latter of which I am still rather new to).
Don’t get me wrong though, I would love to implement cover artwork wherever possible and have had countless ideas with regards to it. But right now, I am choosing to double down on a strong catalogue, building great sets and visuals that you can enjoy.
Hence, I will more often than not stick with the classic Ashiia convention of plain text on a plain background - It’s simple, elegant and intentional.
That being said, if you relate to the music, and come up with something that could work with one of the tracks, I would be nothing but elated to see it! And we can even work towards incorporating it into the ecosystem here. You can reach me on instagram with ideas.
Anyways, the takeaway here aligns with what I believe to be true. And that is to compartmentalise, focus on a maximum of two, maybe three things at a time and go all in, thus staying laser focused on streamlining creative output and opportunity cost.
I haven’t yet released ‘Prayer’ at the time of writing this, but Ill be sure to post an update via Instagram or Youtube when I do.
I’ll catch you around. x) - Jeremy
