Gecko

I love playing my progressive style / electro tracks but then bridging them with hypnotic techno with powerful rolling bass. Doing this, emphasises a contrast between the two worlds. Surpisingly, it’s not something you hear done often.

Gecko is built for this purpose. To be that minimal but sub heavy follow up to a previous top/mid heavy track.

The name comes from a small detail in the track:

Theres a sampled gecko cry layered into the lead. I wanted there to be that connection to nature here - even if subtle.

A video from 5 years ago, featuring a house gecko cry randomly popped up in my youtube feed. I picked up on how polyrhythmic it sounded and thats what inspired it’s primary concept.
